Shoutout

Almost forgot, shoutout to my man Carter and his website:

Carter likes to write about cars. Go figure. Anyway I think it's pretty cool that he has his own site about it, so I thought I'd put it up here.

Amoxicillin and X-Rays

Quote of the day: This looks like it's just a regular old ear infection. -RNP Tomase
Song of the day: Look What Happened by Less Than Jake

Today, after my hair-cutting escapade, I did some other fun stuff.

First, I went and picked up Spencer for lunch. We went to Ruby Tuesday's and upon his recommendation, I had a buffalo chicken burger. It was delicious; he was totally right. yumm. :)

Then, I was planning to take him home, but he said he didn't mind coming to the doctor with me, so we went straight there. The reason I had to go to the doctor was because I have an earache. It started hurting yesterday and didn't go away. Turns out, I have an ear infection in my left ear. So I got a prescription for amoxicillin to clear it up.

While I was with the RNP, I asked her to check out my elbow because, as you know, that's been bothering me too. She said maybe I chipped a bone and sent me downstairs for xrays. So I got xrays on my elbow. Results should come back tomorrow, I think. If nothing's wrong with the bone then I suppose I just continue on with my icing/heating/stimming/therapy-ing and hopefully it will go away. If not it's something really bad like a ligament tear... but I don't think that's what it is.

After dragging poor Spence to the doctor's and xray place with me, we went back to his house. I played rock band with Liv and Carter for a while, and his mom promised me chicken salsa (my favorite meal ever) sometime this week. So Thursday I'm going back over there for dinner. Woohoo!!

On my way back home, I went to pick up my prescription. My conversation with the pharmacist at CVS:
"Can I help you?"
"I'm here to pick up a prescription.
...
Aubin."
"Do you have insurance?"
"Yes."
...
"I need to see your card."
"Oh. I've never picked a prescription before so I don't really know what the deal is."

***WHERE "..." indicates an awkward pause.***

It was SUCH a struggle. I needed some guidance and she sure wasn't giving any. Anyway, I got my pills from the unhelpful pharmacist and went on my way. On the way to the door I looked at permanent hair dye. I didn't buy any today, so I'll have to go back.

Sidenote: I never got around to writing about how the girl's hair dying party went, but it was a smashing success. We had several shades of red and purple, and it was awesome. The best was Manic Panic brand in Bubble Gum Pink and Vampire Red. I got the pink. Some strands of my hair are still colored. I really like it (its not actually pink in my hair) and I kind of want to dye it that color for a while. Hence the permanent hair dye. The day after we did it a couple people that I know and some that I don't know asked me "why everyone's hair is that color today." And by everyone they meant 10 girls on the swim team. Apparently we made our mark on campus, haha. Anyway everyone thought it was really awesome, and I can't wait to do it again next year! The only problem for me, Toni, and Kaitlyn was that we had to swim for a couple days with our hair dyed... oh well. It still worked out great!

In conclusion: lunch = delicious. left ear = on the mend. left elbow = tbd. pharmacist = useless.

Oh well. It happens. At least I got to see Spence and get my wreck of a body on the right track!!

My New Haircut

Quote of the day: ....I got a little creative. - Ericka from Cost Cutters
Song of the day: Hell Yes by Beck

So, I got my hair cut today. Usually I keep it very short, but I decided this time, since it's been getting longer and I like the length, to just get a trim to keep it healthy. I'm not really sure what happened then. I went to a hair shop I've never been to before. I told the girl to just trim it and do whatever, I'm not hard to please. She asked if I wanted layers. I said one layer, please. She asked about my bangs. I said side bangs, and angle them more, please. At the end she said, "I got a little creative."

hmm. Right now I don't know if I like it or not. The layer in the back flips out a little bit and the bangs go all the way across my forehead. They also look longer than they did before I got it cut, if that's even possible. It is very styled. Actually, it was very styled, but right now it's in a ponytail. I partially unstyled the bangs so there's less of them, too.

You never know if you like your haircut until you shower and style it yourself. So I'll keep you updated. Hopefully this is not a huge haircutting flop. In all honesty I think it looks kind of nice, it's just unlike anything I've ever had before. That's why I am so undecided. After I wash it tonight I'll know whether its a thumbs up or thumbs down haircut. Ah, well.

Ah! 1 pm. I'm off to my buddy's house... we're having a lunch date. Woohoo!

Addition: In other news, I just found out I got a 98 on my last programming test. HELL YES!

Free Food and Chinese Laundry...

Quotes of the day: Damn you $11 dollar soda! - Colette
...................How do you work it? I'm too dumb to work it! - Colette
Song of the day: Pinch Me by the Barenaked Ladies
Lucky Numbers: 19 11 48 54 25 34
Learn Chinese: Sugar - "tang"

Today was a very good day.
Partially because it didn't started until 12:30.

Partially because I got to do my laundry for free! And by 'for free' I mean at my house instead of at school for $2.50 a load. yayy! I brought only dirty clothes home with me but now they are all clean, which is good because, you know, clothes are pretty important.

Partially because I went out for Chinese food with my sister. I have totally been craving Chinese food since last Sunday at Boys NEWMACs. See, after prelims, some of the girls said to me, "We're going out for Chinese! Wanna join?" That sounded good, so I agreed and we left the pool to go to Tsang's restaurant. When we got there, everybody decided they wanted to get takeout instead of staying to eat...which was silly, because they were just going to go eat at the hotel anyway. Said hotel was 20 minutes in the opposite direction of my house, so I went home without any food. Since then I've been craving it. Today, my mom was working and my sister and I didn't want to cook, so we decided to go out! It was delicious. Definitely a good life decision, haha.
It was pretty fun, too. It was nice to be able to just goof off with my sister for a while. I also learned how to say "sugar" and "potato" in Chinese. But not really. When I say learn I mean "understood for a minute and then promptly forgot." Oh well.

On the way home we stopped at iParty and bought 4 pirate rubber duckys for my dashboard. It needed some new decorations... it used to have a plastic chicken/turkey on a spit roasting over a plastic fire...but I lost the fire, then lost the bird, then found the fire. So for a while it's been only the fire. Now I have 4 rather swashbuckling rubber ducks sitting around a plastic campfire. It's very nice. =D

The picture is kind of dark but you can mostly see what's happening there.

Once we got home we watched the movie the Golden Compass. I really liked it. I remember reading the book a few years ago but not well enough to have any of the movie spoiled.

Overall, a very very relaxing and good day. Woohoo! Let's hope the rest of my vacation days are just as awesome.

Fern

Quote of the day: I work there... we went out the back way. -Juliana
Song of the day: Stolen by Dashboard Confessional

Last night, I was sitting in my room, and Juliana and Molly entered with a plant. A large potted plant that they kept calling a fern. This plant is clearly not a fern (see first picture, of Molly and Juliana with said 'fern'). Anyway, they stole it from the third floor of the campus center and now it's sitting in my room at the foot of Toni's bed (second picture). haha.

Juliana was so excited about this plant!! I wanted to name it Murphy but she said no. So we named it Fern, or Ferny if you want to be affectionate. Unfortunately poor Ferny became our new roommate on the last day of the term, so he/she? is going to be all alone for 9 days during break. Oh well. Hopefully Juliana watered it well before she left and it will survive the week. At least Ferny is in the company of the 3 unnamed bamboo stalks on my desk. They can be lonely plants together.

As you can see, we decorated Ferny to make him our own. I had these foamy letter stickers from the secret psycher thing for swim, and I wanted to put them on the pot, but Juliana said we had to keep it classy so we decorated Ferny's leaves. One of them says "Fern" and one says "304."

Oh, how I love school. =D

Baruch College

Song of the Day: Ironic by Alanis Morissette

Weird.

So, remember how I had that Baruch College swim cap that I got at ECACs?

Yesterday, I was walking in Harrington on my way to the trainer and there was a basketball team practicing in the gym. What basketball team? Baruch College, of course. Funny how things happen like that. Apparently they are playing in the NCAA tournament against UMASS Dartmouth tonight. WPI is hosting the tournament. Now that I've discovered this college I keep running into it!

That's all. Just thought I'd share how crazy stuff like this happens to me all the time.

Seriously.
It does.
