Song of the day: Happy Birthday, the classic
First off, happy birthday Colette! 16...you are old. Also congratulations on getting your permit. Please don't get into any accidents in my car (or anyone else's) while I am at school (or ever). Thanks.
I baked another cake today! It's chocolate with strawberry jam in the middle. It tastes pretty good. I never realized how long it takes to make a cake until I was baking this one today by myself. It was okay though, I went on the computer and played piano and showered while I was waiting for this cake to bake/cool. And, I learned from my mistake last time and let it fully cool before icing it, and it worked much better and didn't split into pieces this time. And I used a full container of frosting. yum! After finishing my cake I went to my massage appointment. I've only had one before and I really liked it, so I decided to go while I was home again. It was only half an hour but very nice and relaxing.
Shortly after I got home Colette and mom returned from the RMV, learner's permit in hand. They had gone driving a little bit too. Then she opened her presents. She got a sweet camera from my parents. It's pretty awesome. I "gave" her the movie Wanted, which is her favorite. My mom had bought it for me to give to her... so it didn't require much effort on my part. All I had to do was wrap it. It's cool though, I appreciated the simplicity of the deal.
Later my mom, sister, and I went out for dinner. We went to Smokey Bones and it was pretty awesome. There was this piece of paper on the table that said "Can you guess your server's name? (ask for the number of letters!)" and I was going to, but the waitress beat me to the punch and told us her name before I could ask for the letters. boo. I'm not really sure why the restaurant wanted me to guess, but I was all ready for it until I was foiled. Oh well. Her name was Theresa, if you were wondering.
Once we came home we watched Wanted. It was actually really good and I quite enjoyed it. My sister has been raving about this movie for a while, but I didn't realize until today that it's one I've been wanting to see. I previously hadn't connected the title with the story or actors. Anyway, if you haven't seen it, you should.
Then we ate cake. mmm. It was good. Her friend Sarah had also baked her a cake, and it wasn't too bad. I lit all the candles on both cakes and we sang happy birthday and all that. I actually had some cake batter ice cream with my cake. hah. It was a good combo if I do say so myself!
In other news, my elbow xrays came back normal. So I still have a mystery injury. Super. Also, I decided that my next piano project will be to learn the second section of Joplin's The Entertainer. I already know the first part but I'd like to be able to do more. So, D term that will be happening in Alden, and it will be awesome!
haha you know we're getting old when everyone younger than us starts driving... my cousin just got her permit too and now she wants to drive our car.
