My Old Stomping Grounds

Quote of the day: That's funny because I remember being the table that threw the food.
Song of the day: Dirty Little Secret by the All American Rejects

Today was a day for me to visit all my old places. Namely, my high school and my pool. In some areas lots has changed; in other ways nothing has.

First I went back to THS for a visit. First reaction: EVERYTHING IS DIFFERENT. They're renovating it, a process that began right after I graduated, so everything is moved around/closed down/being torn down/new. A couple of my favorite teachers are in different classrooms, and some areas of the school are closed off altogether. Needless to say, it was confusing as hell. I got lost, not gonna lie. Oh well. Eventually I found everyone I wanted to talk to and they were happy to see me. So that was pretty cool.

After pretending I was in high school again I went to the mall for a bit. Then I got a slush and hung around for a while.

Later I went to play water polo with my club swim team. Now, I absolutely love water polo, but it's tough to play when the ages range from 6-18. I was all excited because my bff was going to be there and a couple of my other swim friends who are still in high school, but it turned out to be kind of lame. We played in the shallow end going to short way... I ended up playing for a few minutes, just chatting with my bff for a while, then goofing off a little in the deep end. My bff, sister, and I tried to blow bubble rings. They weren't amazing, but we definitely made progress by the end.

It's always interesting to go somewhere that you haven't been in a while. It's either exactly as you expect it or the total opposite. THS had the same character(s) inside that it did when I left; it just looks different. My pool, on the other hand, looks almost the same (they fixed it up but I've been there a lot since then) but felt different than it used to. Almost like I've grown out of it.

I just got really philosophical for a second. Sorry about that.
